What is the purpose of the Status Change page?

The Status Change page allows drivers, supervisors, and other authorized personnel to view and modify the status changes and special driving conditions associated with a driver's record of duty status (aka driver log).

The Status Change page may also be used to resolve certain conflicts, such as Gap in Log, or Missing Odometer.

What information is displayed for a status change or special driving condition?

• Type/Status - The abbreviation for the status change or special driving condition

  Special driving condition options will only appear if the driver has these options enabled. See Drivers for more details.

• Latitude and Longitude - The coordinates of the location where the status change occurred

  This information is visible only when GPS data is available for the status change.

• Location Description - Describes the location where the status change occurred

  For status changes using GPS data, this description will include the name of the nearest city and the name of the state or province in which that city is located. The description also may include the distance and bearing from that city if the location is outside city limits. If GPS is not available, the description is optional; instead, separate options will be visible for specifying the location based on the selected Location Type.

• Location Type - One of the following:
  • City/State
  • Intersecting Highways
  • Highway/Milepost
  • Highway/Service Plaza
  • GPS
• CMV Power Unit Number - The identification number for the CMV associated with the status change
• Ignore this odometer conflict - Shown only if an Odometer Gap and/or Decreasing Odometer conflict is detected for this event. Check this box to ignore the conflict without affecting the start or end odometer values.
• Odometer Start and Odometer End - The vehicle odometer readings at the beginning and end of the duty status period

  Required only for Driving (D) or Off Duty, Personal Conveyance (OFF-PC) status changes.

• Start Date and/or Start Time - Indicates when the status change occurred

  The date is visible and editable only when the driver's time zone has changed.

• End Time - Indicates when this duty status ends and the next subsequent duty status begins

  End times are shown for your convenience in understanding the duration of a given duty status. If no subsequent duty status has been recorded yet, an end time will not be shown.

• Reason For Change - Captures the accompanying annotation for status change edits
• Conflicts - A list of any unresolved conflicts that exist for this status change

  For Conflicting Vehicle Activity, the name of the other driver with whom there is a conflict appears as a hyperlink. Non-driver users may click on the driver's name to display that driver's log.

What information is displayed for a status change with a missing start of day odometer conflict?

• CMV Power Unit Number - The identification number for the CMV associated with the Driving (D) status for which a missing start of day odometer conflict exists
• Start Date/Time - The start date and time of the status
• Start Odometer - The vehicle's odometer reading at the start of the status
• Midnight Date/Time - The date and time for which an end-of-day odometer reading is requested

  In the case that the driver's time zone has changed, this time might be something other than 12:00AM. This reflects the time zone difference between the driver's logs.

• Start of Day Odometer - The requested end-of-day odometer reading; this is needed to determine the total distance driven on each log day.
• End Date/Time - The end date and time of the status
• End Odometer - The vehicle's odometer at the end of the status
• Midnight Location - The requested city and state or province where the vehicle was at midnight
• Reason For Change - Captures the accompanying annotation for status change edits

Can I display odometer readings in kilometers instead of miles?

Yes. Your user preference for distance and odometer units determine whether miles or kilometers is displayed when viewing, adding, or editing a status change.

Adding or editing a status change*

To add or edit a status change:

1. Select the duty status or special driving condition abbreviation from the Type/Status drop-down list.
2. Enter all information required for the selected type or status taking special care to enter the correct Start Time.
3. Enter a Reason For Change to explain why it is necessary to edit the driver log (for example, "Driver forgot to sign out").
4. Click the Save button to save changes and return to the driver log.

* If you need to add multiple status changes for the same driver, try entering the most recent status change first and then work backwards to the earliest status change. This may prevent "false positive" Conflicting Vehicle Activity conflicts from being reported while you are working.

Can I edit a status change marked as inactive?*

No. You cannot edit any status changes marked as Inactive - Changed, Inactive - Requested, or Inactive - Rejected. However, you can add an annotation to the status change event at any time.
