The Malfunctions and Diagnostics Report is intended to inform the fleet of any periods of time
when an ELD has determined that it may not be functioning according
to federal regulations, so that investigative and corrective action can be taken.
Malfunctions and Diagnostics are tracked only for Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs); to view
functional problems with Automatic On-Board Recording Devices (AOBRDs), see the
Device Failure Report.

Malfunctions and Diagnostics Troubleshooting Guide
for more details about what Malfunctions and Diagnostics are, what conditions are likely to

The Malfunctions and Diagnostics Report searches all Malfunction and Diagnostic records for
the selected range, looking for events associated with a device and/or a vehicle. The greater the
date range, the more system intensive the search. Restricting the date range ensures that
your report will load faster.
The Active, Detected, and Cleared checkboxes, shown alongside the
CMV Power Unit Number and Hardware Serial filters, let you
narrow the report to only currently active events, historical detections, events that have since cleared, or
any combination thereof.
-
Active - Includes only the most recent malfunction and diagnostic detection events that are currently
detected (not yet followed by a newer clearance event).
-
Detected - Includes all malfunction and diagnostic detection events, including those that have since cleared.
-
Cleared - Includes malfunction and diagnostic events for which
conditions have since changed such that the malfunction or diagnostic is no longer
present.
Any combination of the checkboxes can be checked at the same time to include multiple event types, or
all can be unchecked to exclude all malfunction and diagnostic codes from the report.
* Like the other report filters, changes to the Active, Detected, and Cleared checkboxes are not applied
until the View button is clicked.
* When the Cleared filter is checked, a note is added next to the
Total Number of Diagnostics detected in range summary to indicate that
cleared events are included in the report.
Click the Reset Filters button to return all report filters to their default
state in a single step:
- The date range returns to the default one-week span.
-
The CMV Power Unit Number and Hardware Serial drop down
lists return to (all).
-
The Selected Malfunctions and Diagnostics list returns to all
malfunction types (diagnostics move back to Available Malfunctions and
Diagnostics), and the Active checkbox is checked while
Detected and Cleared are unchecked.
* Unlike the other filters, Reset Filters re-runs the report immediately with the reset values - there is no need to click View afterward.
