Log Edit Report
Topics in this section:
The Log Edit Report is intended to provide drivers, organizations and authorized federal, state, and
local officials with detailed information concerning changes made to a driver's record of
duty status (aka driver log).
The report can be used to view:
-
Edits affecting the driver log for the driver currently logged into the system (and only their own logs).
-
Edits affecting driver logs for a particular driver, a selected set of drivers, or all drivers in
the organization if permissions to view that data have been granted.
-
Edits affecting driver logs for a particular date or range of dates (regardless
of when the edits were made).
-
Edits that were made on a particular date or range of dates (regardless of what driver
logs were affected).
To view the report for a particular log date or date range:
- Select the range of Dates for which you wish to view edits.
To change a date:
- Click the ... button to pop up the calendar.
- Click on the date desired.
- Select Log Date.
- Specify an Edits filter.
- Select the View button to display the results.
To view the report for a particular log date or date range:
- Select a driver's name, a set of driver names, or (all) from the Driver drop-down list.
- Select the range of Dates for which you wish to view edits.
To change a date:
- Click the ... button to pop up the calendar.
- Click on the date desired.
- Select Log Date.
- Specify an Edits filter.
- Select the applicable Edit Status values.
- Select the View button to display the results.
-
Driver - The name of the driver whose log was changed.
-
Editor - The name of the application user who edited the driver's log.
-
Edit Date - The date and time that
the change was made, based on the viewer's preferred time zone.
For example, if the log was changed by a user on the west coast at 5:00 pm Pacific
time, but your user preference is for Eastern
time zone, the time shown will be 8:00 pm Eastern.
-
Log Date - The date on which the log event was created.
This date is also a link to the "Driver Log" page for that specific date. Selecting the date
will take the user to the Driver Log page for that day so that the log event can be viewed in the
context of all events logged for that time period.
-
Action - The type of data operation associated with the change
Possible actions are:
-
Edit Status - Current status of the event in the log
The Edit Status field reflects whether the corresponding event is included in the
driver's current log of record. A status of Active indicates that the event is part
of the log of record; any status beginning with Inactive indicates that the event
is not part of the log of record.
Possible values are:
- Active
- Inactive - Rejected
- Inactive - Requested
- Inactive - Changed
-
Original Event - Details of the corresponding original log event. The type of action performed
on the event determines whether this column has a value or not (e.g., an "Add" action indicates that
the event was added to the log and therefore no original event existed, while an "Edit" action indicates
that an existing (the original) log event was changed).
Original Events contain:
- Driver Status (ON, OFF, SB, D, etc.)
- Start Date and time of the event
- End Date and time of the event
- Origin of the event (Driver, Other User, etc.)
- Event Status - the current status of the event in the log
NOTE: Original and Updated Event start and end date/times are shown with the timezone in which they were created.
-
Updated Event - Details of the corresponding updated log event. The type of action performed
on the event determines whether this column has a value or not (e.g., an "Add" action indicates that
the event was added to the log as a new/updated event, while a "Delete" action indicates that an existing
(the original) log event was marked for removal and no updated event exists).
Updated Events contain:
- Driver Status (ON, OFF, SB, D, etc.)
- Start Date and time of the event
- End Date and time of the event
- Origin of the event (Driver, Other User, etc.)
- Event Status - the current status of the event in the log
NOTE: When the original and updated events are both displayed, any differences in the data between them
will be hi-lighted.
-
Reason for change - The annotation entered describing why the log event was changed.
There are a number of ways to filter and sort the data contained in the Log Edit Report.
The functions available are dependent on the permissions granted to the user who is generating
the report. In general, drivers have access to their own log data only, while administrators or
users granted access permissions can see log data for any or all drivers within a given organization.
Drivers can filter the events in their Log Edit Report by: a date, a span of dates, the date the log event
was added to the log, the date the log event was edited, who made the edits to the log and by
the Edit Status value(s).
The Dates filter can be applied to search for:
- Log events that occurred on a specific day (by default, the date fields are set to the current day - the "from" and "to" dates are the same).
- Log events that occur over a range of dates, which can be selected by:
- Clicking the ... button to pop up the calendar.
- Clicking on the date desired.
- The selected dates can be used to return either the log entries that were created on those dates:
- Or, the log entries that were edited on those dates:
The Edits filter can be applied to search for:
- Edits made by the driver
- Or, all edits made to the log.
The Edit Status filter can be applied to search for edits with a particular status:
- Active
- Inactive - Rejected
- Inactive - Requested
- Inactive - Changed
Select the checkbox(s) for those Edit Status values you are interested in (any combination is acceptable).
When the filters are set, select the View button to display the results.
Users with extended access permissions can obtain ELD Log Edit information for one, several, or all drivers
within a given organization. Therefore, they have advanced filtering capabilities available to them.
The Driver Filter:
The top level filter for the Log Edit Report is the Driver Filter which allows for filtering
drivers by Home Terminal or Driver Groups.
NOTE: Changes made to the Driver Filter value will reset all other
filters set on the page.
The Driver Filter:
The Driver filter can be used to search for and select one, multiple, or all drivers assigned to a
given organization. Driver names or parts thereof can be entered and names selected from the drop-down
listing as needed.
- Edits made by:
- A driver with a particular User ID.
- Drivers with a specific first name.
- Drivers with a specific last name.
- Edits made by an Administrator or User with access permissions.
- All log edits.
The Edit Status filter can be applied to search for:
Edits that have a particular status or combinations of status values:
- Active
- Inactive - Rejected
- Inactive - Requested
- Inactive - Changed
Select the checkbox(s) for those Edit Status values you are interested in (any combination is acceptable).
When the filters are set, select the View button to display the results.
Once the Log Edit Report has been generated by selecting the View button, the data it contains
can be sorted and/or resorted as needed.
The report contents can be sorted by selecting any of the column headers that are underlined. The columns
available for sorting are:
- Driver
- Editor
- Edit Date
- Log Date
- Action
- Edit Status
