            AOBRD - Automatic On-Board Recording Device. An electric, electronic, 
            electromechanical, or mechanical device capable of recording a driver's duty status 
            information accurately and automatically as required by CFR Section 395.15.
        
 
        - 
            CMV - Commercial Motor Vehicle. Generally, a vehicle used for transporting goods 
            or paid passengers; see applicable regulations for the United States and Canada for the 
            legal definition as it applies to Hours of Service regulations in each jurisdiction.
        
 
        - 
            Cycle - In Canada, the number of consecutive days during which a driver's on-duty 
            time is accumulated. A cycle may be 7 days (Cycle 1) or 14 days (Cycle 2), at the 
            discretion of the motor carrier.
        
 
        - 
            DVIR - Driver Vehicle Inspection Report(s). A DVIR is prepared by the driver 
            listing any defect or deficiency discovered by or reported to the driver which would 
            affect the safety of operation of the vehicle or result in its mechanical breakdown.
        
 
        - 
            ELD - Electronic Logging Device. A device or technology that 
            automatically records a driver's driving time and facilitates the accurate recording of 
            the driver's hours of service, and that meets the requirements of subpart B of CFR Section 395.
        
 
        - 
            FMCSA - Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. An administration within the 
            USDOT that is responsible for enforcement of commercial vehicle safety regulations in 
            the United States.
        
 
        - 
            HOS - Hours of Service. HOS regulations govern the working hours of anyone 
            operating a commercial motor vehicle in commerce in the United States or Canada.
        
 
        - 
            Multiday Basis - In the United States, the number of consecutive days during 
            which a driver's on-duty time is accumulated.  The multiday basis may be 7 days or 8 days, 
            depending whether the motor carrier operates vehicles every day of the week.
        
 
        - 
            Transport Canada - The department within the government of Canada that is 
            responsible for regulating transportation in Canada.

            USDOT - United States Department of Transportation.
